How much does a website cost?

Everyone wants to know, "How much does a website cost?"

All over the internet you will see web designers answering that question with, "How long is a piece of string?"

Well I can tell you how long a piece of string is (it's twice as long as it is from the middle to one of the ends), but I cannot tell you how much your website will cost, because it really does depend on what you want.

So what kind of string ... oh I mean website ... do you want?

• How many pages?
  
• How much content on each page?
  
• Will you be providing the content or do you need a copywriter?
  
• Do you have images? How many will you need?
  
• Do you want a gallery, or a slider, or video?
  
• Do you have a logo and corporate colours?
  
• Is it important to you that your website is easily found by search engines?
  
• Do you want to be able to update your website yourself?
  
• Will you need a database?
  
• What about a contact form, or an email newsletter sign up form?
  
• Will you be selling online and want a shopping cart and PayPal?
  
• Have you registered a domain name and organised website hosting?

As you can see, there are a lot of decisions to be made.
